Pune : Drunk Driver Hits Multiple Vehicles Near Z Bridge, Pedestrian Killed
Pune 7th Oct 2023: In a major accident reported near Z Bridge on Friday night, a drunk driver who had lost control over his car hit multiple vehicles near Z Bridge corner in Narayan Peth. A pedestrian has died in the accident while 3 to 4 others sustained minor injuries.

The accident was reported at around 10:30 pm. According to officials, the drunk driver and his friend were driving the car in the city. As they reached near Alka Chowk the driver identified as Umesh Hanumant Waghmare (48) lost control over the vehicle and he hit a pedestrian, two wheelers and an autorickshaw before colliding with the electricity pole near Z bridge.

A pedestrian identified as Vishwanath Ramchandra Rajyopdhyay (60), a resident of Narayan Peth has died in the incident. The police detained the driver soon after the incident and a case under relevant section was being registered. According to the traffic department, the pedestrian had collapsed after he was hit by the car and the ambulance was called for help but the doctors declared him dead on the spot.
