Pune: Drunken Youth Assaults Two People, Threatens Female Police Officer in Camp
Camp, 1st January 2024: A disturbing incident took place in the Camp area of Pune when a drunken youth, involved in a violent altercation, targeted two individuals and later turned his aggression towards a female police constable who arrived at the scene.
The complainant, Rupesh Kumar Sonkamble (26), a resident of Bibvewadi, reported the incident to the Lashkar Police Station. According to Sonkamble, the trouble began when his friend, Rohit Lokhande, was being assaulted by an individual in the Solapur Bazar area on a Saturday afternoon. Upon receiving information about the incident, Sonkamble rushed to the spot and confronted the assailant.
In response, the accused attacked Sonkamble with a broken glass bottle, causing injuries. As the situation escalated, a call was made to the police control room, alerting the lady-beat marshal about the ongoing altercation in the Solapur Bazar area.
Upon arriving at the scene, the lady police officer attempted to intervene and requested the inebriated assailant to drop the broken glass bottle. However, the situation took a more alarming turn as the accused attacked the policewoman, threw away her mobile phone, and went on to threaten self-harm by using a piece of glass.
A case has been registered in connection with this incident. API VN Dengle is conducting further investigation.
