Pune: Due To Debt, Businessman Faked His Robbery Story

Somwar Peth, 25th July 2022: Investigation has revealed that a businessman, who complained that robbers entered his flat and robbed cash and 390 grams gold ornaments totally worth Rs 21.25 lakh from his wife, has faked the robbery. The investigation has revealed that the businessman filed a false complaint with the police due to the debt.

A businessman is living in a society at 15 August Chowk in Somwar Peth. He had lodged a complaint at Samarth police station. 

Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Sathe and Crime Branch Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam visited the spot and immediately started an investigation. The officials of the investigation team seized the CCTV footage of the society for investigation. A dog squad and a team of fingerprint experts also reached the spot. The activity of the robbers was not detected in the CCTV footage. This raised the suspicion of the police.

The police then interrogated the businessman. Then the businessman told the police that he had taken a loan of Rs 42 lakh. The businessman confessed to the police that he faked the robbery to get some time to pay the money. It has been revealed that the businessman has hidden jewellery and cash in the house. The investigation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Priyanka Naranvare, and ACP Satish Govekar.
