Wagholi, 30th April 2023: Citizens of Pune are facing water crises for a long time and the Wagholi area of Pune is not an exception. After demanding a water pipeline from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) but not receiving any response, the frustrated residents of Hillshire Society arranged a private water pipeline to save as much as Rs 3.5 lakh per month.
The inauguration of the said pipeline was done today by Sandip Satav Patil, Anil Satav Patil, and Dipak Munde in the presence of Hillshire Society residents.
Due to PMC’s negligence, citizens are facing discomfort and it is observed that they are arranging basic necessities themselves. Incidences like these are raising questions on the capability of the municipal corporation.
While talking to Punekar News, Janesh Koul, Ex-Chairman of Hillshire Society and a Co-Founder of Problem Solver Group at Wagholi said that the residents were paying as much as Rs 5.5 lakh per month on water tankers. “We were demanding the water pipeline from the municipal corporation but we never received any response.”
Koul stated that they then approached Ramkrishna Satav Patil and Anil Satav Patil and discussed the issue of dependency on water tankers faced by society. “After hearing our problems, they offered a solution to procure water through the pipeline from a natural well belonging to a local farmer. They ensured complete support to assist in any local conflict,” he added further.
The initiative of procuring water through the pipelines for domestic use was started in 2021.
After the efforts of locals, and the strong support of the current administrator Dipak Munde, the residents of society arranged a private pipeline. The water pipeline has been procured by Subhadrai water suppliers through its proprietor Sagar Hargude.
Janesh Koul was leading this initiative along with a few of the committee members, Sabyasachi Sarkar, Loveneet Hora, Anupam Gupta, and Manish Mohite.
Due to everyone’s efforts, residents of Hillshire Society will now receive unlimited water supply from 1st May at a nominal monthly cost of Rs 1.95 lakhs instead of Rs 5.5 lakhs per month.
