Pune: Report Prepared By Enquiry Commitee To Prevent Accidents On Navale Bridge

Pune, 30th April 2023: The report of the committee appointed to inquire into the accident near Navale Bridge on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Bypass has been prepared. The report suggests long-term measures to prevent accidents.

 

The accident took place near the Swaminarayan temple on this highway last Sunday in which two people lost their lives. The number of accidents in this area is increasing. Considering the number of frequent accidents and taking into consideration the severity of Sunday’s accident, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh ordered to set up of an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch.

The committee consists of the Project Director of the National Highways Authority (NHAI), Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department as a Member, and the Regional Transport Officer as the Member Secretary. This committee has prepared a report and a meeting has been called on Tuesday (2nd May) at the collector’s office.

 

An organization called ‘Save Life Foundation’ was given the job regarding the accident taking place near Navale Bridge. Based on the report given by this organization, many measures have been taken to install rumble strips, remove encroachments on the sides of the roads, put strips on both sides, increase the police presence, control the speed limit, etc. NHAI has been instructed to take permanent measures.

 

Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Collector said, “The committee was ordered to study the incident and submit a report within seven days. A report has been prepared accordingly. Short-term (immediate) measures and long-term measures have been suggested to reduce these types of accidents. The measures suggested and taken by ‘Save Life Foundation’ have also been included in the report.”
