Pune Education Department Says No Cancellation Of Online Education For Non-Payment Of Fees

Pune, December 14, 2020: Despite repetitive notices given to schools for not cancelling online classes due to non-payment of fees issue, there are some schools which have stopped online education as parents have not paid the fees. The parents’ association have expressed outrage over this and demanded action against the respective schools.
The lockdown has worsened the financial situation of many parents. However, soon after the schools began the online education, they started sending reminders and continuously demanding for fees payment.
Against this backdrop, the parents staged a sit-in agitation at the office of Primary Education Director Dattatraya Jagtap on Friday.
Teachers, principals, parents and field officers of 17 schools were called for hearing at the Pune Municipal Board of Education office on Saturday. Joint Director Dinkar Temkar, Board of Education Administrative Officer Meenakshi Raut and others were present.
Kalidas Jadhav, a representative of the parents’ association stated that online education of students should not stop due to non-payment of fees, an audit of schools should be conducted, schools should not demand full fees without providing any facilities. He also stated that action should be taken against schools violating RTE Act, due to non-payment of fees do not stop filling the examination forms of the Std X students.
Only seven schools have been heard and no concrete decision has been taken. At this time, there was a quarrel between parents, school representatives and officials. The hearing is set to resume on December 17.
