Pune Education Department Under Scrutiny: Commissioner Calls for Open Investigation Into Corrupt Officers And Teachers

Pune, 6th June 2023: In a significant development, Maharashtra Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare has written a letter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), urging for an open inquiry into the corrupt officials and teachers within the education department.

Several teachers and officials from the education department have been implicated in bribery cases, yet they continue their duties without facing any consequences. Frustrated by the lack of action against them, the Education Commissioner has taken a bold step by requesting an open investigation into the matter.

Mandhare has already dispatched letters to the Superintendents of Police (ACB) in all regions of the state, asking them to conduct a thorough inquiry.

Amol Tambe, Superintendent of Police at the Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, has confirmed receiving the letter. He stated that the Education Commissioner has called for an open enquiry into the corrupt officials and teachers who have been caught accepting bribes.

According to the procedures followed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, when a government employee or officer is involved in a bribery case, they undergo an open investigation. In response to the Education Commissioner’s letter, the department has initiated open investigations into corrupt officials and teachers in Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur districts.
