Pune: Elderly Couple Reunited in Pargaon After Getting Separated on Lakshmi Puja Day

Pargaon, 14th November 2024: A young group of people successfully reunited an elderly couple who had gotten separated during Lakshmi Puja day at the Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory in Pargaon, Ambegaon Taluka, Pune District. The couple was safely transported back to their native village, Loni Kalbhor, after their reunion.

Vasant Bapu Sonawane and Malan Vasant Sonawane, an elderly couple from Loni Kalbhor, were returning from Pandharpur when they got lost in Pargaon. Former Deputy Sarpanch Vitthal Dhobale and security guard Goraksh Bade noticed an elderly man sitting anxiously at the Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory Bus Stand for an extended period.

Dhobale approached him and enquired about his situation. The man identified himself as Vasant Sonawane and explained that he and his wife had travelled from Pandharpur and were trying to reach their village, Loni Kalbhor. He mentioned that his wife had gone ahead, and he was unsure of her whereabouts.

Dhobale assured the elderly man and began searching for his wife in the factory area. He soon found her sleeping by the roadside near the Bhimashankar Factory petrol pump. When asked her name, she introduced herself as Malan Vasant Sonawane and explained, “We came from Pandharpur, and I was separated from my husband.”

Dhobale, Bade, and Dattatray Thorat helped reunite the couple. Meanwhile, Vasant Sakharam Tambe, who was passing by, offered to take them in his car and safely drove them back to their village of Loni Kalbhor.
