Pune: Elderly Member Of Family Dies In Suicide Attempt By Three Members Consuming Poisonous Medicine
Hadapsar, 22nd May 2023: Three members of a family attempted suicide by consuming poisonous medicine, resulting in the death of an elderly individual in Fursungi, Hadapsar, Pune.
The incident took place today around 6 pm, allegedly due to the economic depression faced by the family. The Hadapsar police station has registered a case of accidental death (AD).
The deceased has been identified as 72-year-old Suryaprakash Harishchandra Abnave. Currently, undergoing treatment are Janabai Suryaprakash Abnave (60) and Chetan Suryaprakash Abnave (41), both residents of Fursungi.
The Abnave family resides in Fursungi, where Janabai is reportedly suffering from a terminal illness and her husband, Suryaprakash, is caring for her at home. Their son, Chetan, has faced two divorces and is currently unemployed. Allegedly due to the economic depression, all three individuals attempted to commit suicide by consuming poisonous medicine on Monday.
Relatives who arrived at the spot discovered that the Abnave family had ingested the poison. They promptly informed the police control room (108), and the police team immediately responded. The three family members were rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where doctors pronounced Suryaprakash dead. Janabai and Chetan are currently receiving treatment for their condition.
