Pune: Election Commission Ensures Accessibility For Disabled Voters In Chinchwad Constituency

Chinchwad, 24th February 2023: The Election Commission has taken steps to ensure accessibility for disabled voters in the upcoming Chinchwad constituency elections. The election office held a training session to guide staff on the use of EVM devices to accommodate disabled voters.

Several individuals, including Jyot Sonawane, director of the Industrial Training Institute, and social worker Ganesh Tilekar, have been appointed to help facilitate the process for disabled voters. The measures taken include the use of Braille scripts on the ballot units, providing magnifying glasses for those with visual impairments, and providing information in sign language for those who are deaf.

Special volunteers have been appointed to assist disabled voters at the polling station, and wheelchairs and ramps will be made available. The voting will be held on Sunday (February 26).

The Election Commission’s efforts have been praised by disabled voters, who appreciate the facilities provided by the electoral system to ensure that they can easily participate in the democratic process. All disabled voters in the Chinchwad constituency are encouraged to exercise their right to vote and participate in strengthening democracy, the Commission has appealed.
