Pune: Election Commission Extends Electoral Roll Revision (SIR) Exercise Till Aug 17
Pune, 5th August 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for the ongoing Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in Maharashtra to August 17, 2026, following a request from the state’s Chief Electoral Officer.
Under the revised schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue door-to-door verification and distribution of enumeration forms until August 17. The rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will also be completed within the extended timeline.
The draft electoral rolls will now be published on August 24. Claims and objections will be accepted from August 24 to September 23, while hearings and disposal of applications will be carried out between August 24 and October 22. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 27.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the extension was necessitated, among other reasons, by incomplete or abbreviated addresses in the electoral database, which have made it difficult for Booth Level Officers to trace some voters during field verification.
He urged voters whose addresses are inadequately recorded to proactively contact their respective BLOs to facilitate the distribution and verification of enumeration forms and expedite the revision process.
Citizens can obtain the name and contact details of their Booth Level Officer through the Pune district administration’s official website, pune.gov.in, Dudi said.
