Pune: Election Commission Seizes Rs 43 Lakh Cash In Chinchwad And Rs 5 Lakh In Kasba By-Elections Campaign

Pune, 20th February 2023: The Election Commission has seized a large amount of cash and contraband in the Chinchwad and Kasba constituencies of the Pune district where by-elections are scheduled to take place.

The Election Commission announced that the by-elections for the 205-Chinchwad and 215-Kasba Peth assembly constituencies are underway, and campaign activities by both the Bharatiya Janata Party and Mahavikas Aghadi are intensifying in both constituencies.

During the election campaign, Rs 43 lakhs cash, 7336.16 liters of liquor worth 4,97,625/-, and 3.584 grams of ganja worth 94750/- have been seized in the Chinchwad Constituency. In the Kasba Peth Constituency, 503500/- cash, 313.180 liters of liquor worth 20,650/-, and 25 grams of MD worth 5 lakhs were seized.

The Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, Shrikant Deshpande, visited Pune to review the election preparations and planning. The voting is scheduled to be held on February 26, 2023, and the counting of votes will take place on March 2, 2023. The political atmosphere in both constituencies is heating up with strong campaign activities by the political parties. The Election Commission has urged all parties to comply with the rules and regulations of the model code of conduct.
