Pune, 4th January 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Employees, Officers and Engineers Strike Committee called a 72-hour strike after midnight on Tuesday (3rd). The strike was called off on Wednesday (4th) evening.
92 per cent of employees, engineers and officers of Pune circle participated in this strike during the day shift. On the other hand, all the senior officers were ‘on the field’ from night to smooth the power supply which was interrupted due to various reasons based on limited manpower. Due to this, power supply to main water supply schemes, big hospitals, mobile towers, and government offices remained smooth.
During this strike period in Pune city, mainly in Sinhagad Road, Vadgaon, Hingane, and Dhayari, the electricity supply was interrupted around 3 am. Due to technical failures one after the other, the power supply of three sub-stations, namely Abhiruchi, Limaye Nagar and Prayaga was stopped. As a result, about 30,000 electricity consumers were inconvenienced.
Considering the serious failure, Executive Engineer Manish Suryavanshi and Keshav Kalumali started fault-finding and repair work with the help of contractor agency staff. Regional Director of MSEDCL Ankush Nale, Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar, and Superintending Engineer Prakash Raut visited and inspected the repair works and provided technical guidance. After that, around 3.30 pm today, the power supply was restored in all areas.
Power was also interrupted in Uttamnagar, some areas in Wakad and Sangvi, Sus Road, Mhalunge, Pashan, Dhankawadi, Ambegaon, Katraj, Gokulnagar, Bhilarewadi, Ramtekdi, Hadapsar Gadital, BT Kawade Road, Tingre Nagar, Mohannagar, and Shastrinagar in Kothrud. Power supply has been restored in most of these areas and the remaining 30 per cent of the areas are being restored till 7 pm through repair work.
Along with this, five power lines in Chakan MIDC as well as power lines supplying electricity to Talegaon city, Indori, Vadgaon, Somatne, Nanekarwadi, Kurli, and Kadus villages were damaged. However, all the power supply has been restored by the afternoon after carrying out repair work at the war level. Also, the electricity supply was interrupted in Junnar and Otur villages. It was also smoothed out in a phased manner till evening. Power supply in Bhosari MIDC Sector 7 as well as Kudalwadi, Dehu village, Borhadewadi, Chikhli and Ota Scheme area in Nigdi was interrupted due to various faults. The power supply has been restored in the area by late evening.
