Pune: Encroachment and Traffic Congestion Plague Raviwar Peth, Citizens Appeal to PMC
Pune, 23rd September 2025: The long-standing issues of encroachment and traffic congestion in the Raviwar Peth area have reached a critical level. Local residents have submitted a written complaint to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), urging immediate action to resolve the problem.
The residents said that unauthorized vendors have occupied both sides of the main road from Raviwar Peth to Swargate. “As a result, ambulances, fire trucks, and school buses struggle to navigate the route. During peak hours in the morning and evening, traffic congestion becomes so severe that residents face significant inconvenience. Pedestrians are forced to walk on the road, posing serious risks, especially for young children,” they explained.
While traffic police have occasionally taken action against encroachment, these measures have been temporary. Residents insist that permanent solutions are necessary to prevent the problem from recurring. Along with signatures from other locals, a detailed representation has been submitted to the PMC.
The increasing population in Raviwar Peth areas has further intensified traffic pressure. Residents allege that the nuisance caused by unauthorized street vendors has grown more serious and that the administration has largely ignored the issue. They demand the immediate removal of encroachments to ease passage for pedestrians and vehicles and urge permanent measures to prevent future problems.
Citizens have warned of potential protests if the PMC does not take concrete steps to address the issue. All eyes in the community are now on the municipal authorities to see what actions will be taken.
