She along with her group has been providing groceries, cooked meals to the underprivileged in and around Pune since the last lockdown was imposed in the month of March 2020.

Their main focus was to be helpful towards the visually impaired and the mentally/physically challenged. More than 1000 families have been helped so far. The activities were stopped when the lockdown was uplifted but have been continued since it was imposed again.

Sanchita said, “A lot of families from Pandharpur were provided with groceries since they have been facing a financial crisis due to the cancellation of Wari (Palkhi) for a year. These families would earn their living by making prasad in the Vitthal temple, working at the stalls selling Tulsi haar or garlands, were daily wage workers at the factories preparing prasad for the temple and the families that had their sole income from the Warkari’s staying at their home during Wari/Palkhi.

All this help was possible by collecting donations. The help was also given in various areas like Hampi, Karnataka (Tour guides, Rickshaw Drivers that were impacted due to the lockdown), Kolhapur, Konkan etc.

Monthly groceries to a few orphanages like Mauli Krupa, Alandi were also provided. A lot of people were being helped with plasma, beds, injections and other necessary things during the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic.”
