Earlier, there have been instances where many smart students from rural or marginalized backgrounds have stayed away from engineering for fear of English. Many countries in the world including Germany, France, Japan, Russia, China, provide education in their local languages.
“If students could get technical education in their mother tongue, it would help strengthen their foundation. We have received a total of 500 applications from all over the country. In the future, we are planning to offer postgraduate engineering education in 11 more languages”, said AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabuddhe.
He also added that all the books and study materials required for the study of AICTE courses are available in these languages. The material on the self-learning portal Swayam has also been translated into these languages to the benefit of the students, he informed
