Pune Engineering Exam Scam Busted: Professor Among Four Held for Letting Students Rewrite Answer Sheets for Bribes

Wagholi, 3rd June 2025: In a shocking case of academic fraud, the Pune Crime Branch’s Unit 6 busted a racket in which engineering students were allowed to rewrite their examination answer sheets overnight in exchange for bribes. A professor and three others were arrested on Monday night from Parvatibai Genba Moze College of Engineering in Wagholi.
The arrested professor has been identified as Pratik Kisan Satav (37), a resident of Kesanand, Wagholi. According to police, Satav had planned to provide first-year Engineering Mathematics 2 answer sheets—already written during the official afternoon examination—to selected students to rewrite them during the night.
Acting on a tip-off received by Assistant Police Inspector Madan Kamble, the Unit 6 team conducted a raid on Monday night and detained Satav along with:
Aditya Yashwant Khilare (20)
Amol Ashok Nagargoje (19)
Aniket Shivaji Rode (20)
During the raid, police recovered six bundles of Engineering Mathematics 2 answer sheets, ₹2.06 lakh in cash, and a duplicate key to the examination control room. The accused had allegedly created the fake key to access the sealed answer sheets and distribute them to students who were worried about failing.
A total of eight first-year students from the college were found at the spot, reportedly involved in rewriting their own papers. Investigators say each student paid between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000 for this illegal “second chance.”
The accused have been booked at Wagholi Police Station (CR No. 226/2025) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 303(2), 318(2), 318(3), 318(4), 61(2) and also under sections 4, 5, 10, and 11 of the Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
