Pune, 11th December 2023: Sarang Yadwadkar, renowned for his environmental advocacy in Pune, has added a new feather to his cap by setting a record at Sassoon Hospital’s Blood Bank with his 175th blood donation. Despite being widely recognized as an environmental activist, Yadwadkar has consistently demonstrated his commitment to altruism by being a regular blood donor for the past 45 years.

Sarang Yadwadkar, a 65-year-old architect by profession, is well-known in Pune for his relentless efforts towards environmental conservation. Beyond his advocacy work, Yadwadkar has quietly been making a significant impact at Sassoon Hospital, where he has been donating blood every three months for the past four and a half decades. As he marked his 175th donation, he was honoured with special recognition for this remarkable achievement.

The occasion was graced by several dignitaries from Sassoon Hospital, including Dr. Leena Nakate, Head of Sassoon Blood Bank, Dr. Somnath Khedkar, and Dr. Shankar Mugave from the Social Services Superintendent Department. The gathering celebrated not only Yadwadkar’s commitment to blood donation but also the positive impact his contributions have had on the local community.

Speaking about his milestone, Yadwadkar expressed both satisfaction and a sense of melancholy. “Recently, I completed my 175th blood donation. Reflecting on the past, I feel a sense of fulfilment. However, looking towards the future, I feel a tinge of sadness, knowing that, at 65, I am no longer eligible to donate blood. I urge all citizens to donate blood regularly. It’s a simple act that brings no harm or risk but holds immense benefits for society. Your donation can save lives and bring great satisfaction to both you and the community.”
