Pune: Evening Diversions in Kondhwa to Ease Ramzan Traffic
Kondhwa, 21st February 2026: To ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent severe congestion during the holy month of Ramzan, the Pune City Traffic Police have announced temporary route diversions in the Kondhwa area.
The restrictions will be effective daily from 5:00 PM to midnight (17:00 to 24:00 hrs) starting February 20 until the conclusion of the festive month.
According to a press release issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City, areas under the Kondhwa Traffic Division—specifically Shital Chowk, Ashoka Mews Society, Pargenagar, and Kausar Baugh—witness massive crowds during the evenings of Ramzan.
To manage the heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement, entry for all heavy vehicles and water tankers has been restricted on specific routes.
The police have issued the following alternate routes for these vehicles:
Jyoti Hotel Chowk to Pargenagar: Heavy vehicles and water tankers turning left from Jyoti Hotel Chowk towards Pargenagar via Mayfair Junction are restricted based on necessity.
Alternate Route: These vehicles must travel straight from Jyoti Hotel Chowk to Shital Chowk and then head towards Pargenagar.
Pargenagar to Jyoti Hotel: Heavy vehicles and water tankers traveling from Pargenagar towards Jyoti Hotel via Mayfair Junction are strictly prohibited.
Alternate Route: These vehicles should detour via Pargenagar Chowk to Shital Chowk, and then proceed to Jyoti Hotel Chowk.
Sarvodaya Junction Chowk to Kausar Baugh: Heavy vehicles and water tankers moving from Sarvodaya Junction Chowk towards Kausar Baugh are restricted.
Alternate Route: Commuters must use the alternate route via Mayfair towards Jyoti Hotel Chowk.
Additionally, all previous parking orders along these specific stretches have been temporarily suspended to facilitate the current traffic arrangements.
DCP Jadhav has appealed to all citizens to use the designated alternate routes and cooperate fully with the traffic police personnel and volunteers deployed on duty.
