Pune Excise Officials, MNS Halt Freshers’ Party at Pub for Serving Alcohol to Minors
Pune, 24th August 2025: A freshers’ party hosted at Kiki Pune in The Mills near Pune railway station on Saturday night was abruptly stopped after officials from the Maharashtra State Excise Department found that alcohol was being served to minors without proper checks. The raid followed a tip-off received by activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s (MNS) student wing, who alerted the department.
According to officials, the event, which began at 5 pm on August 23, was attended by hundreds of students from various colleges in Pune. The pub allegedly allowed entry to youngsters between the ages of 17 and 21 without verifying identity cards or maintaining entry records.
Following the complaint, a team led by Excise Officer Jagdale and officer Wagh reached the premises and ordered the immediate suspension of the party. Action against the pub operators and event organizers continued until late at night, with officials working past 2 am.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) also staged a protest outside the pub, condemning what they called “addiction traps” set through such freshers’ parties. City MNS president Dhananjay Dalvi, along with state executive member Abhishek Thite, deputy city president Vikrant Bhilare, Parikshit Shirole, division president Hemant Bolge, and other office-bearers, warned pubs against serving alcohol to underage students.
MNS leaders declared that if any pub or restaurant is found serving liquor to minors in the future, they would not only protest but also ensure “complete demolition of the pub bar.”
The Excise Department has not yet released details on penalties or legal action against Kiki Pub. Investigations are underway.
