Pune: Exhibition Of Aspects Made By Prisoners Of Yerawada Jail; Citizens Can Visit Exhibition Between 8.00 Am – 8.00 Pm
Pune, 15th October 2022: On the occasion of Diwali, an exhibition of various household items made by the prisoners of Yerawada Jail has been organized. This activity has been organized by the prison administration to give scope to the talents of the prisoners.
Yerawada Central Jail is the second-largest jail in the country. Prisoners who have been convicted of various crimes are serving their sentences in this jail.
To give scope to the talents of these prisoners, the prison administration trains them to create various artistic items. The jail provides training in carpentry, sewing, gardening, making bakery products and various items. Every year on Diwali, Rakhi Poornima, Christmas, Ganeshotsav an exhibition of items made by prisoners is organized.
The exhibition organized on the occasion of Diwali was inaugurated by Pradeep M Kuralkar, a scientist from the Defense Research and Development Institute.
On this occasion Dr Bharti Kuralkar, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (West Division) Swati Sathe, Deputy Inspector General Sunil Dhamal (Headquarters), Chandramani Indurkar, Principal of Daulatrao Jadhav Turang Adhikari College, Yerwada Central Jail Superintendent Shiv Shankar Patil, Urmila Patankar, Sushma Konde-Deshmukh and others were present.
Iron cupboards, furniture, uniforms, carpets, files, bed sheets, towels, etc are manufactured in the jail. Due to the good quality of these items, there is a great demand from the citizens.
The exhibition has been organized from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm at the Industry Sales Center of Yerwada Jail on Airport Road. The prison administration informed that the exhibition will continue till Diwali.
