Pune: Fake Army Officer Arrested By Local Crime Branch

Pune, November 12, 2020: The sleuths from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police and Military Intelligence (MI) yesterday nabbed a man for allegedly impersonating as a senior Army officer in Kirkatwadi near Khadakwasla and cheating people.

The accused has been identified as Ankit Kumar Singh (23), currently residing at Utsav Society, Kirkatwadi, who is from Hasanpur, Amroh, Uttar Pradesh. He impersonated as a Lieutenant Colonel. His wife Meenakshi was also detained.

According to police, 10 identity cards, two mobiles, a tab, a printer, a laptop, a large number of forged documents, army uniforms, important army identification symbols, military boots, a belt and a cap with army insignia were seized from him. The accused has been handed over to Haveli Police Station for further investigation.

The action was taken under guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh and Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Padmakar Ghanwat. The team included Police Sub-Inspector Amol Gore, ASI Dattatraya Jagtap, police personnel Mangesh Bhagat, Amol Shedge, Balasaheb Khadke, Kashinath Rajapure and Sunita Mane.
