Pune: Fake ITR Submitted In Name Of Ex-IAS Officer’s Son, Case Registered

Pune, 23rd August 2022: A fake ITR was prepared and submitted to the Income Tax Department in favour of the son of an ex-IAS officer. The accused have defrauded the Income Tax Department too, though the income of the concerned is not so large.

Lina Prakash Mehendale (72), resident of Paud Road, has filed a complaint in the Cyber Police Station. A case has been registered against Taher, Brajesh, and Ramkumar, along with the PAN card holder, under the Information and Technology Act.

 

 

 

Complainant Lina Mehendale is a retired IAS officer. Her son Aditya Menhendale is currently living in the Netherlands for work. The accused used his name and PAN card to deposit returns to the Income Tax Department between 2011 and 2022. The accused used to deduct fake TDS and deposited the tax with the Income Tax Department to file fake income tax returns. The accused pretended to pay income tax return to Menhendale’s son even though he had no taxable income. The accused cheated the government and the Income Tax Department without coming under the radar of the Income Tax Department.

 

 

 

Senior Police Inspector DS Hake of Cyber Police Station is investigating the matter.
