Pune: Fake Scotch Factory Busted by State Excise Department in Katraj Area

Ambegaon Budruk, 13th January 2024: In a significant operation conducted by the State Excise Department, a fake scotch factory operating in the Katraj area has been dismantled.

Acting on tip-off received by Deputy Superintendent Santosh Jagdale, Inspector of State Excise, C Division, Pune, conducted the raid yesterday at Katraj Dehu Road Bypass, S.No.3, Ambegaon Budruk, Pune. The enforcement team seized a total of 34 sealed bottles of counterfeit foreign scotch, along with two two-wheelers, 551 empty bottles, bunches of bottles, monocartons, a heat gun (hair dryer), induction (grill), plastic packing roll, plastic adhesive tape, and a mobile phone. The estimated value of the confiscated items is Rs 10,39,474, informed Superintendent Charan Singh Rajput.

 

 

The arrested individual, Maheshbhai Haribhai Koli, a resident of Mangalwar Peth, Pune, has been linked to the illicit operation and stands booked in the criminal case. “Investigations reveal that the fake foreign-made liquor was being distributed by refilling used empty bottles. The illegal alcohol was being transported to Mumbai and other cities through parcels, with sales taking place in Pune using two-wheelers as a means of distribution. The detained accused provided this information”, said Rajput.

The operation involved the collaborative efforts of Inspector R.P.Shewale, Sub-Inspector N.N.Markad, Sub-Inspector S.S.Lohkare, S.S.Indalkar and staff Sharad Bhor, Gopal Kanade, and Ujwala Bhabad. Inspector Rajaram Prabhu Shewale of State Excise, C Division is currently overseeing the investigation into the crime.
