Pune: Family of Deceased Santosh Jagdale Appeals for Financial Aid, Job Support After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Karvenagar, 26th April 2025: In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the life of Santosh Jagdale, his grieving family has appealed to the government for financial assistance and a job opportunity for his daughter. Speaking to the media, Jagdale’s daughter Asawari and wife Pragati shared the profound impact the incident has had on their lives.
“What happened to our family is a kind of loss jo kabhi bhar nahi sakta (a loss that can never be filled),” said Asawari, recalling the horrifying moments when her father and uncle were shot dead before their eyes.
“He was such a nice person but met a cruel fate. We saw everything happening right in front of us,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Pragati Jagdale, Santosh’s wife, expressed the family’s helplessness and made a heartfelt plea for government support. “I want the government to provide us with some financial help and a job for my daughter,” she said. Describing the days after the tragedy as “unbearable and traumatic,” Pragati shared that the memories of the attack continue to haunt them daily.
Speaking about her father, Asawari said he was a kind, generous, and people-oriented man. “If you spent even an hour with him, you would feel like you’ve known him for ten years,” she said. “People of all ages were his friends. When we brought him back home, over a hundred people gathered. His nature was so helpful and friendly.”
Both mother and daughter emphasized their complete dependence on Santosh for financial and emotional support. “We are lost, clueless, and see only darkness ahead,” said Asawari. “But we have to stay strong.”
Pragati added, “I don’t even know how to run my household now. My husband was our only source of income. It was just the three of us—me, my husband, and my daughter. Now, I don’t know what to do. I am a housewife, and my daughter is not working. We come from a middle-class background. It’s not about surviving for a few days or months—it’s about securing our entire future.”
The Jagdale family has urged both the central and state governments to provide immediate compensation and offer a government job to Asawari, stressing that their survival and future now depend on such support.
