Pune, December 9, 2020: Family Planning Association of India appeals for no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) for males. Advocate Avalokita Mane, president, Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Pune branch appealed today through a press release issued in Pune.

Family Planning Association of India is attempting to bust the myths around no-scalpel vasectomy through discourse and awareness in the community as well as providing the NSV services at no cost. Anyone who would like to undergo NSV is first counselled about the pros and cons of NSV against all other methods of contraception with a non-biased approach. The clients are provided with the basket of choice consisting of available methods of permanent and temporary contraception.

After receiving consent from the client, a few laboratory investigations including blood sugar, HIV/STIs, Blood pressure are done. Medical history is taken to rule out any contra-indicated conditions like aggravated asthma. If all tests reports are negative, NSV is done. This two-tier approach allows the prospective eligible clients to get all the information and services under one shelter at the earliest.

As a token of appreciation and motivation, the beneficiary receives Rs 3000 from FPAI towards the education of children of the beneficiary and Rs 1100 from the Government of India towards loss of wages. The amount is deposited directly in their bank account at the earliest. Along with this, Rs 350 from FPAI and Rs 200 from the government are deposited as promotor charges in the bank account of those who mobilize and bring clients to FPAI clinic for NSV.

FPAI Pune appeals eligible couples to contact FPAI’s Shivajinagar clinic at 101, Western Court, Ganeshkhind Road, opposite to E-Square or on 020-25677735/36 to get more information about no-scalpel vasectomy as well as other sexual and reproductive services provided at FPAI clinics.
