Pune: Fatal Accident on Sinhagad Road: Pune Contractor Falls to Death While Fleeing Police Raid

Wadgaon Budruk, 21st April 2024: In Pune, a construction contractor, Vishwanath Gundappa Biredar (47), fell to his death from a building on Sinhagad Road in the Wadgaon Budruk area. The incident led to the registration of a case of sudden death by the police. Biredar resided in Wadgaon Budruk.

 

The events unfolded when some individuals were playing cards on Friday night in a building located in the Charwad Wasti area of Wadgaon Budruk. The Crime Branch conducted a combing operation against illicit businesses and establishments in the city, prompted by recent shooting incidents.

 

During the operation, the police approached the building where card games were in progress. Amidst the commotion, someone within the premises shouted a warning about the police’s arrival. Sensing imminent action, some individuals attempted to flee. In the rush, one person grabbed a pipe from the building and descended from a height. Biredar, too, opted to descend using the same pipe. He fell from the fourth floor, sustaining severe injuries. Despite immediate medical attention at a private hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

 

Deputy Commissioner of Police of Zone Three, Sambhaji Kadam, investigated the matter upon receiving information about the incident. According to Kadam, Biredar’s fall occurred while attempting to evade police action by descending via the pipe. The precise circumstances within the building remain

unclear.
