Pune: Father And Son Dead In Accident On Way To Ganpatipule
Pune, 25th December 2022: Devotees who had left for Ganpatipule from Pune met with a terrible accident at Kokrud in Sangli district on the Karad-Ratnagiri state highway.
The car hit the bridge divider due to a miscalculation of the road on the Kokrud-Nerle bridge over the Varna river. The father and son died on the spot. Three others are seriously injured.
According to the information received from the Kokrud police about the accident, Rishikesh Ghogre along with his wife Renuka, cousin Mahendra, Rupali, Aarav and Shivendra had left Pune for Ganapatipule, Ratnagiri in the morning. After approaching the Kokrud-Nerle bridge over the Varna River at Kokrud, Rishikesh lost control of the car and the car hit the guardrail of the bridge causing an accident.
The deceased have been identified as Mahendra Ashok Ghogare (age 35), Aarav Mahendra Ghogare (age 4). The names of the injured are Rupali Mahendra Ghogre, Shivendra Mahendra Ghogre and Renuka Rishikesh Ghogre. Mahendra and Aarav, who were sitting on the driver’s side, died on the spot.
The injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karad. Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Patil is conducting further investigation.
