Pune: FDA Raids Two Cosmetic Manufacturers For Illegally Selling Products

Pune, December 16, 2020: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took action against a company and raided two flats in Kondhwa and Narhe for allegedly manufacturing and selling cosmetics without a license and violating the Drug and Cosmetic Act, 1940 on Monday.

FDA has seized Rs 10,55,208 worth of cosmetic products from their possession. According to police, MUR Duggad Private Limited and MA Mera India are the names of two companies located in Kondhwa and Narhe respectively, where these raids were conducted. Atish Sarkale, drug inspector,  AK Thackeray, and Jayshree Savdatti conducted the raid at Shantinagar society located in Kondhwa. 

 
Magic soap named product was found at the flat. A sample of this soap has been taken for laboratory testing. The rest of the materials such as raw materials, equipment used, printed labels, cartons, and delivery invoices were seized. The probe has revealed that the soap manufactured in Kondhwa was sold in Narhe. After raiding the flat in Narhe, handmade cake soap, hair oil, body lotion, and other products were found; none of the products have license number mentioned on them. Further investigation is underlying and further action will be taken accordingly.
