Bavdhan, 9th December 2024: Shankar Mahadevan is facing potential legal trouble due to his recent performance at a private event in Pune. Citizens of Bavdhan and nearby areas have raised concerns over a privately celebrated birthday party in the Bavdhan area, which falls under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).

The citizens have filed a complaint with the police against all those involved in the event, including the organizers, attendees, and artist performers. This means that veteran singer Shankar Mahadevan and his son Shivam could potentially face action.

Yesterday, around 8 PM, a birthday party was organized on a private plot near the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune. The event featured loud music and sound that disturbed the entire area. The noise was so loud that it could be heard up to 3-4 kilometres away. The birthday party included live performances by Shankar Mahadevan and his son Shivam Mahadevan. The event was held without prior permission and violated all noise regulations, continuing until 5:30 AM while the sound system remained on until 9 PM. Citizens informed Punekar News about the disturbance.

Citizens began to feel the sound disturbance as night fell. Many called the police through the 112 emergency number, but the police were reportedly unresponsive. One citizen claimed, “The police were incapable of taking action because influential people were involved.” Initially, no one knew who was performing, but citizens later discovered it was Shankar Mahadevan. To support their claims, citizens recorded videos and submitted them to the police.

The Bavdhan Citizens Forum, a community representing people of all ages and backgrounds from the area, visited the Bavdhan Police Station under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) to voice their complaints and demand strict action.

Shankar Mahadevan’s son Shivam also indirectly supported these claims through an Instagram story. The story, titled “Legends at 5:30 AM,” shows the duo performing the song “Gallan Goodiyan” from the film Dil Dhadakne Do, with the sound being notably loud. Over 100 citizens from Bavdhan, Baner, Pashan, and nearby areas gathered at the Bavdhan Police Station to ensure that an FIR was filed for noise pollution caused by the event, which took place from 8 PM yesterday to 10 AM today.

A citizen told Punekar News, “The music was going on the whole night. We couldn’t sleep, our kids couldn’t sleep. The senior citizens had issues with heart problems due to the noise. Today, we went to the police station. Seeing the pressure from us, the police coordinated well, but yesterday, there was no response to our calls.”
