Kothrud, 12th August 2021: A case of fraud has been registered against 13 office bearers of Kirloskar Cummins Employees Union at Kothrud police station.

The incident took place between 2008 and August 2014. Pramod Pate (48), a resident of Sinhagad Road, has lodged a complaint in this regard.

Pate is employed at Cummins India Limited Kothrud and his company has a Kirloskar Cummins Employees Union. The group loan scheme is being run in collaboration with a bank here and the company had given a written guarantee to the bank that if the worker pays the loan installments, the amount will be deducted from the worker’s salary and paid to the bank.

According to the police, the union was responsible for the entire recovery of the debts incurred by the workers. Meanwhile, Ajit Chandrakant Shelar had taken a loan of Rs two lakh from a bank under a group loan scheme. In 2005, Kirloskar Cummins Employees Union officials conspired to remove Shelar from the company. The amount other than the gratuity they get from the company did not reduce the bad debts of their bank group loan scheme.

As the accused Shelar’s loan was not repaid, Pate along with the witnesses blocked the salary account of the co-operative bank and demanded Rs 67,500 each to repay the arrears of Shelar’s loan.

Shelar had approached the court in this regard. Accordingly, the court had directed the Kothrud police to register a case and investigate.
