Pune: PMC Appoints Safekids Foundation To Operate Traffic Park In Aundh

Pune, 12th August 2021: The Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the appointment of Safekids Foundation to run a ‘Traffic Park’ at Bremen Chowk in Aundh.

“This appointment is for five years,” said Committee Chairman, Hemant Rasane.

He added that ‘The traffic park based on the Urban-95 concept was recently inaugurated by the leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis. The first part of the project replicates a 160-meter long road. It includes roadways, cycle tracks, parking arrangements, signaling systems, road markings, streetlights, sidewalks, traffic signs. Also, in this traffic school, all kinds of traffic signs have been displayed in the form of games. Signs have been given in both Marathi and English languages.

Rasane further added, ”Cartoons drawn by cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar and other cartoonists have been displayed. School children below the age of twelve are expected to visit the exhibition. Bicycles and helmets are provided according to age. The traffic park will be open from 9 am to 5 pm. The time will be increased after considering the response from the citizens. It is expected that 13 to 15 thousand students will visit the park every day. It is proposed to charge Rs 5 for students and teachers in municipal and government schools and Rs 20 each for students, teachers and accompanying parents in private schools.”
