Pune: Fire Breaks Out at Pimpri Chinchwad Furniture Shop, Three Women Rescued
Pimpri Chinchwad, 2nd April 2025: A fire broke out in a furniture shop in Pimpri Chinchwad’s Nehru Nagar around 4:45 pm today, leading to the rescue of three women trapped on the upper floor. The victims, who suffered from suffocation, were rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Sant Tukaram Nagar for treatment. One of them was found unconscious at the time of rescue.
Fire Officer Dilip Gaikwad stated, “We received a call and dispatched more than eight fire vehicles to the location. The fire started in the basement of the furniture shop, and three women on the upper floor were affected by the smoke. They are now receiving treatment at the hospital.”
Fire Officer Anil Dimbale informed the media that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but the soaring temperatures could have led to a short circuit. “One building’s basement caught fire, and the adjacent building sustained minor burns,” he added.
Sources revealed that a crowd of onlookers around the incident made it difficult for fire vehicles to reach the site promptly. The fire was eventually brought under control, and cooling operations are currently underway. No casualties have been reported so far, but injuries were sustained.
