Hadapsar, 15th November 2024: A fire erupted this afternoon in a warehouse on the third floor of an old three-story building near Vaibhav Chitramandir in Hadapsar, Pune. Swift action by firefighters ensured the rescue of seven residents, including two children, averting a major disaster.

The building, Bhimashankar Sahakari Gruharachna Sanstha, is an ageing structure located on Pune-Solapur Road. A shop operates on the ground floor, while a room on the third floor serves as a warehouse. Both the warehouse and the staircase were filled with wooden photo frames, which fuelled the fire when it broke out around 1 PM. Thick smoke quickly engulfed the building, causing panic among the residents.

The Hadapsar Fire Station was alerted, and a team led by Fire Officer Pramod Sonawane, along with Anil Gaikwad and other firefighters, promptly arrived at the scene. Among those rescued was a woman trapped with two children in a third-floor flat. Four more residents were safely evacuated from the building.
