Pune: Fire Damages Car Showroom, Furniture Shop In Mundhwa

Pune, December 20, 2020: A fire broke out at a furniture shop in Mundhwa on Saturday midnight and early morning of Sunday. Just two hours later, a fire broke out at a car showroom in another locality of Mundhwa. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

There are large numbers of furniture shops and godowns near the cemetery in Mundhwa. The godown caught fire around Saturday midnight. After receiving information about the incident, fire brigade personnel and water tankers reached the spot. They faced difficulties to extinguish the fire as there was furniture, so JCB vehicle was used to put the furniture aside. The fire was caused due to the foam, plywood, cloth and glass.

Later a fire broke out at the Mahalakshmi Maruti Suzuki Center showroom near Mundhwa police station at around 2.30 am. Out of 40,000 square feet, about half of the space was on fire. Six cars were burnt in the fire.

A large number of personnel including Chief Fire Officer Prashant Ranpise, Divisional Officer Ramesh Gangad, Fire Officers Vijay Bhilare and Prakash Gore, were involved in the operation to douse the fire.
