Pune, December 20, 2020: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) technical service examination system has changed majorly. Instead of conducting separate examinations for Maharashtra Forest Service, Maharashtra Agriculture Service and Maharashtra Engineering Services, a single joint pre-examination will now be conducted under the name ‘Maharashtra Gazetted Technical Services Joint Pre-Examination‘. This change will be made after the advertisement which will be published in 2021.

The MPSC gave this information through a press release at its official website. Revenue and Forest, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Development, Fisheries, Public Works, Water Resources, Water Supply and Sanitation, Gazetted Group A and Group B Recruitment in Water Resources and Water Conservation Departments had separate advertisements. Also, for these categories of examinations, different competitive examinations were being conducted by inviting separate applications from the candidates. However, considering various aspects related to the conduct of all the three examinations, the Commission has made it clear that for recruitment in all the three categories, the only joint pre-examination will be ‘Maharashtra Gazetted Technical Services Joint Pre-Examination’.

Candidates applying as per the advertisement of the joint pre-examination will be given a choice as to whether they want to appear for one, two or all three examinations. The options given by the candidate for the relevant examination will be considered as applications for the examination in the relevant category. Based on the number of posts to be filled, the results of the pre-examination for each category will be declared separately by determining the number of candidates to be eligible for the main examination of the respective category. The main examinations will be conducted for the eligible candidates according to the examination plan and syllabus prescribed by the Commission for each category.

The Commission informed that the details of the method of accepting applications, eligibility, age limit, fees, general selection process, examination plan, syllabus etc. will be published separately.

“Until now, candidates had to file separate applications and fees for three exams. Also, the preparation for these examinations had to be done separately. In general, the number of common candidates for all the three examinations were numerous. Taking all these factors into consideration, the Commission decided to conduct a single joint pre-examination. The joint pre-examination will be convenient for the candidates from all sides”, Sunil Avtade, Joint Secretary, MPSC.
