Pune: Firefighters Rescue One-Year-Old Trapped in Balcony Iron Mesh

Pune, 17th November 2023: In a swift and courageous response, firefighters from the Sinhagad Fire Station successfully rescued a one-year-old child trapped in an iron mesh at Rasya Hingane Khurd’s Rajshree Society, located near Sinhagad College.

Responding promptly to a distress call received at the control room, a fire vehicle rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the child stuck in the iron mesh on the second floor of a building, with the door securely closed. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the team immediately sprang into action.

Utilizing the hydraulic spreader and jack from their combi tool kit, the firefighters skillfully breached the door frame to gain access. Their quick and efficient efforts culminated in the safe rescue of the infant within a remarkable five-minute operation.

The relieved parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the firefighting personnel for their exemplary performance during the nerve-wracking incident.

Tushar Kare, Fireman, shared details of the rescue, stating, “We received the call at 5:30 pm, and we reached the spot in 5 -7 mins. The child was playing in the balcony, and the door accidentally got locked. When we reached, we found the child’s head stuck in the iron mesh. We managed to get through the door and got the kid out in 2 mins. I urge people to be extra careful if you have a child at home.”

The successful rescue operation was carried out by Driver Ashok Kadu along with firefighters Tushar Kare, Sambhaji Atole, and Adinath Pawar, all from the Sinhagad fire station.
