Pune: Five Accused From Gujarat Arrested In Cricket Betting In Lonavla

Pune, 20th July 2022: The local crime branch (LCB) of Pune rural police has taken action against cricket betting and gambling players in Apte village of Lonavala area and arrested five accused from Gujarat. In this case, a total of Rs 53,000 cash, six mobile phones, one tab, one laptop and cards, totally worth Rs 2.88 lakh have been seized from the possession of the accused.

The names of the accused who have been arrested in this case are Ajay Natwarlal Mithiya (47), Ravi Rasikbhai Rajani (26), Nipool Devasibhai Patel (28), Jignesh Ganeshbhai Ramani (32) and Mitesh Rameshbhai Sindhu (27), all are the residents of Rajkot, Gujarat.

LCB Assistant Police Inspector Netaji Gandhare came to know that a bet was going online on the one-day international cricket match between India and England at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium, England at a bungalow called Lake Mansion in Lonavala on July 17 at 11:15 PM.

Accordingly, the police searched for the accused and arrested the accused who were betting on cricket matches through mobile phones and laptops and registered a case against them at the Lonavla Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh Mane and Police Constable Vijay Gale are conducting further investigations in this regard.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Dr Abhinav Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, Sub Divisional Police Officer Bhausaheb Dhole. The team included LCB Police Inspector Ashok Shelke, Netaji Gandhare, Pradeep Chaudhary, Shabbir Pathan, Tushar Pandhare, Vikram Tapkir, Chandrakant Jadhav, Mahesh Bankar, Ajit Bhujbal, Mangesh Thigale, Police Naik Yogesh Nagargoje, Dagdu Virkar, Balasaheb Khadke, Amol Shedge, Mapona Sujata Kadam, Pran Yewle and Poonam Gund.
