Pune: Five-Storey Covid Centre in Baner, Preparation On To Tackle Third Wave

Pune, 3rd August 2021: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started preparing to tackle the third wave of the Corona variant. Accordingly, a five-storey Covid Center has been set up at Baner. It also has an ICU facility along with oxygen beds. The ambulance carrying the critical patient can reach the ICU directly through the lift.
The PMC has set up this Covid Centre at survey number 33 in the Baner area. Preparations for the same had been going on for the past three months. There is also a covid hospital currently functioning at Baner.
The first two floors of the new Covid Centre in Baner are reserved for parking. There is a special lift facility available to park cars on it. Both these floors have now been converted into intensive care (ICU). There will be 31 ICU beds on each floor i.e. a total of 62.
There are 147 oxygen beds on the third, fourth, and fifth floors. The area of Covid Centre is 2069 sq. m, with 60 doctors and 152 nurses and other staff. The total cost of this hospital is around 12 crores.
Executive engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh informed that CREDAI Pune, Pune City Connect NGO, Nandan Association, Malpani Group, have made equipment and machinery available from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
Administrative departments, inspection, and testing departments, doctor rooms, control rooms have been provided on the ground floor. Mobile X-ray machines have been made available for this hospital. Therefore, this machine can be carried directly to the bed to take X-rays of the chest of corona patients. The report is immediately available on the doctor’s mobile and computer. Two oxygen generation plants have also been set up with a capacity of 1050 liters per minute each. A liquid medical oxygen track of 13,000 liters has also been set up.
