Pune: Five Women Rescued in Sahakarnagar Spa Raid; One Arrested

Pune, 19th August 2026: The Pune City Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) rescued five women and arrested a 48-year-old man after raiding a spa in the Sahakarnagar area, police said.

Acting on confidential information, an AHTU team raided Urja Spa, located at D-2, 10 Upper, Sambhajinagar, near Bismillah Chicken in Sahakarnagar, on August 18. According to the police, the establishment was allegedly being used to operate a prostitution racket under the guise of a spa.

The information was verified under the supervision of Police Inspector Ashalata Khapre with the assistance of a decoy customer. After confirming the alleged illegal activity, the police conducted a surprise raid and rescued five women who had allegedly been brought to the premises for prostitution.

Police arrested Appa Dashrath Fasale, 48, a resident of Upper Indiranagar, Pune, in connection with the case.

An offence was registered at Sahakarnagar Police Station as Crime No. 295/2026 under Section 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswi Satpute, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch Unit IV, Shankar Khatke, and Police Inspector Ashalata Khapre.

Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Misal and police personnel Ishwar Andhale, Tushar Bhivarkar, Babanrao Kedar, Amey Rasal, Imrankhan Nadaf, Avinash Konde, Reshma Kank and Vaishali Khedekar.
