Pune, 18th August 2022: The work of the flyover at the Acharya Anandrishiji Maharaj Chowk (Savitribai Phule Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk) on Ganeshkhind Road will begin after Ganeshotsav. Before that, alternative routes will be planned to avoid traffic congestion in this area.

Meanwhile, the Road Department has been ordered to fill all the potholes in one day as the citizens are upset due to large potholes on the Ganeshkhind road.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is working on the metro from Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi. A flyover and subway will be constructed here to break the traffic jam at Vidyapeeth Chowk. Even though work is not going on at Vidyapath Chowk on Ganeshkhind road, huge traffic jams occur in the area. Due to potholes, the speed of traffic has slowed down further. At the same time, since the work of metro and flyover is ongoing at the Vidyapeeth Chowk, the Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, and Traffic Police have to work vigorously to avoid traffic jams.

Can both flyover and Shivajinagar-Aundh subway work take place simultaneously at Vidyapeeth Chowk? The administration is sceptical about this. If this work begins, there is a possibility of traffic jams at this intersection. Meanwhile, as the Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi project is to be completed in three years, it will be necessary to plan as the work at this intersection will also have to be completed in time. Municipal and PMRDA meetings will be held in this regard.

The Road Department has been ordered to fill the potholes on this road within a day. Also, no more than seven meters of barricading can be done in the middle of the road during metro work. Orders have been given to PMRDA to clear the road where more space is occupied,” informed Vikram Kumar, Commissioner Municipal.
