Pune: Traffic Diversion On Occasion Of Dahi Handi Festival, Alternative Routes Suggested
Pune, 18th August 2022: On the occasion of the Dahi Handi Festival, changes have been witnessed in the traffic in central areas.
Therefore, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rahul Shrirame, has appealed to motorists to cooperate with the police by using alternative routes. In particular, traffic has been diverted on Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, and Tilak Road in the central part of the city from 5.00 pm on August 19 till the end of the Dahi Handi festival.
The Dahi Handi festival will be celebrated in the city two years after the pandemic. Against this backdrop, Govinda’s teams have made strong preparations. Meanwhile, for Dahihandi, Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, Budhwar Chowk to Datta Mandir Chowk, Belbagh Chowk to Sevasadan Chowk, Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk, Mandai Chowk (Babu Genu Chowk), Sahitya Parishad Chowk, Navi Peth are crowded with devotees. In this background, the traffic has been diverted to prevent congestion on the roads.
Drivers going to Swargate from Shivaji Road are advised to go from Barve Chowk and take the Jungli Maharaj Road to Khandoji Baba Chowk, Tilak Chowk – next to Tilak Road / Shastri Road.
Drivers going from Puram Chowk to Bajirao Road towards Shivajinagar are advised to proceed through the Chowk from Puram Chowk to Tilak Road. Alka Talkies Chowk and F. C. Road should be routed.
For motorists going from S. G. Barve Chowk to Pune Manpa Bhawan via Shivaji Road, it is advised to go from S. G. Barve Chowk, take the Jungli Maharaj Road, and turn left to Jhansi Rani Chowk.
One-way traffic has been provided from Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk. Traffic coming from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will proceed via Bajirao Road to its destination.
Traffic coming from Rameshwar Chowk to Shanipar Chowk has been stopped. Traffic will be closed from Sonya Maruti Chowk to Sevasadan Chowk via Lakshmi Road. Hence, the vehicles will take a right turn from Sonya Maruti Chowk and proceed through Fadke Houd Chowk.
