Pune: Former BJP Corporator And His Son Booked For Duping People On Pretext Of Good Returns By Investing In Gas Agency

Pune 25th Sept 2023: The Pune City Police have booked the former corporator and leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and his son for allegedly duping nine people of the city to the tune of Rs 5.5 Crore in the name of investment in a gas agency by assuring better returns. A case in this regard has been registered at Vishrambaug Police Station.

According to the complaint registered with police, the accused former corporator Uday Joshi (65) and his son Mayuresh Joshi (45) allegedly lured the complainant and others to invest money in a gas agency by assuring good profits. The complainant has alleged that he had invested a total of Rs 14.10 lakhs in the gas agency after he was assured good returns. Similarly, eight more people had also invested the money expecting better returns.

However, the accused did not provide returns to any of the investors and duped them after he reached out to police to lodge a complaint in the matter. The Vishrambaug police have booked the accused under sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
