Pune: Former Employee Arrested for Rs 25 Lakh Extortion Attempt

Pune, 21st March 2025: The Sinhagad Road Police have arrested a former employee of an educational institution for allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh in extortion from the institution’s owner. The owner filed a complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station, leading to the arrest.
The accused has been identified as Sudarshan Kamble, a resident of Dhayari Phata. Kamble previously worked at the institution, handling technical responsibilities for CCTV cameras, but left the job during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the police, Kamble visited the institution’s premises on March 6 and later sent a message to the owner, claiming that the owner’s son and a female employee were involved in an immoral relationship. He further alleged that he possessed video clips as evidence.
Senior Police Inspector Dilip Daigade stated, “Kamble, who worked as a technician at the institution, quit his job during the COVID-19 period. He then threatened to defame the institution by making the alleged video clips viral and demanded Rs 25 lakh in extortion. He repeatedly sent messages, pressuring the owner to pay.”
Following a technical analysis, the police tracked and arrested Kamble. Further investigation is underway, officials confirmed.
