Hinjawadi, 21st March 2025: In yet another twist to the fatal Hinjawadi fire that killed four and injured multiple people, the family of the driver accused of deliberately setting the fire has denied the allegations made by Pimpri Chinchwad Police. They refuted claims that he acted out of revenge and anger toward the company and its passengers.

A devastating fire broke out in a tempo traveler mini bus in Pune’s Hinjawadi area on Wednesday, claiming the lives of four company employees. The investigation has revealed that the driver, Janardan Hambardikar, allegedly set the bus ablaze due to frustration with his coworkers. The police have filed charges against Hambardikar for conspiracy and murder. However, his family disputes these allegations, claiming he is being unfairly implicated.

Hambardikar’s brother, Vijay, questioned the police’s version of events, pointing out inconsistencies. He noted that if the bus doors were locked, as alleged, it would have been impossible for some passengers to escape unscathed. Additionally, he highlighted that the company’s strict policies would have prevented Hambardikar from smuggling chemicals into the premises unnoticed. Vijay also mentioned that his brother-in-law, Vishwas Khanvilkar, was among the passengers on the bus, further raising doubts about the driver’s involvement in the arson.

Janardan’s wife also expressed skepticism about the allegations, stating that her husband had not mentioned any grievances about bonuses or other issues. She emphasized that he had been working with the company since 2006 and was a diabetic patient. She demanded a thorough investigation to ensure her husband receives justice.
