Pune, November 2, 2020: Forts in Pune will now be open for adventure sports, mountaineering, and other outdoor activities, informed MLA Siddharth Shirole through a tweet on Sunday night.

This decision has been taken after Shirole took up the matter with Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh. “I have spoken to Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh who has assured me that in the coming week he will issue orders relaxing restrictions on trekking and other adventure sports”, tweeted Shirole a week ago.

Now, finally, after seven months of the shutdown, this decision has been taken. Recently various tourist attractions such as Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani were also opened for tourists.

Shirole tweeted, “Forts, Cliffs, & other Features of #Sahyadris & Western Ghats in #Pune District are now officially open for Trekking, Mountaineering, and other Adventure Sports. I thank Hon Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh Ji for accepting demands of all outdoor enthusiasts and relaxing guidelines.”
