Pune, 1st June 2025: A tragic incident unfolded in Kadachiwadi near Chakan on Saturday, where four 13-year-old boys lost their lives after drowning in a lake while playing. The victims, all sons of migrant workers from various parts of Maharashtra, had ventured out around mid-morning and never returned home.

According to officials from the Chakan police station, the deceased have been identified as Omkar Hange from Beed, Prasad Deshmukh from Nanded, Naitik More from Akola, and Shloak Mankar from Amravati. The boys’ families reside in rented homes in Medankarwadi, a locality near Chakan, where the parents work as laborers.

“All four children were classmates and studied in Class VI at a local school,” said a police officer from Chakan. “They had left their homes around 11 a.m. to play. When they didn’t return for hours, their parents became anxious and began searching the area.”

Their search ended in heartbreak when they discovered the children’s footwear and clothes on the edge of a small lake in Kadachiwadi. Authorities were immediately alerted.

“We launched a search operation and, by evening, managed to recover all four bodies from the water,” the officer added. “Post-mortems were conducted, and the bodies were handed over to their families. We have registered a case of accidental death.”

The officer further stated that preliminary findings suggest the boys may have entered the water to cool off or play, unaware of its depth. “There were no eyewitnesses, but based on the scene and the recovered items, it appears to be a tragic case of drowning.”
