Pune: Four Arrested For Assault On Man And Use Of Arms At KP

Pune, 28th November 2022: A police investigation into the early-Friday morning shooting incident in the Koregaon Park neighbourhood, in which a man was assaulted and a gunshot was fired into the air, has shown that the shooting was the result of a struggle for dominance at the Tadiwala road between two groups.

 

On Saturday, four persons were detained in this relation. Nitin Mhaske and Rohan Nigade were taken into custody by the crime branch, while the Bund Garden police detained the main suspects Ajay alias Sonya Dodmani (26) and Ajay Dhar (22).

 

 

Sagar Kolnatti was allegedly attacked by a group of seven individuals as he was walking home from a friend’s birthday party at a restaurant on the grounds of a mixed-use development. When the attack happened, at around 4 am, he was riding his two-wheeler. One Dodmani attacked Kolnatti with a cement paver block, while another started shooting in the air. The empty round was discovered there by the police. The other suspect is being sought after by them.

 

According to the investigation, Kolnatti (age 36) and the other four suspects have criminal histories at various police stations and have filled out history sheets. The accused and the victim live in the same neighbourhood along Tadiwala Road.

 

A police team led by Inspector Ashwini Satpute, Sub-Inspectors Ravindra Gawade and Sudhir Ghotkule, Constables Dnyana Bade, Amol Sarde, and Manoj Bhokare apprehended Dodamani and Dhar and found a gun in their possession as a result of a tip-off.

 

Following the applicable provisions of the Arms Act and section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder), the Bund Garden police filed a first information report (FIR).
