Pune: Four Dead And Seven Injured In Major Accident

Shirur, 23rd March 2023: Four devotees from Amdabad in Shirur taluka of Pune district were killed in an accident at Kamargaon on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway while they were returning home after the pilgrimage. Seven people have been injured in this accident.

Rajendra Vishnu Salve (age 32), Mayur Santosh Salve (age 22), Vijay Rajendra Awachite (age 24) and Dheeraj Ajit Mohite (age 10) died in the accident. Among them, Vijay Awachite and Dheeraj Mohite are uncle-nephews.

Those injured in the accident include former Amdabad Sarpanch Popatrao Ghule, Khandu Kashinath Narwade, Gram Panchayat members Pradeep Bhausaheb Salve, Bapu Shivaji Salve, Gurunath Raosaheb Salve, Ajit Raosaheb Salve, Akshay Kisan Salve and others. Some devotees from Amdabad had gone to Shanishingnapur, Devgad in the afternoon of Gudhi Padva (yesterday) in a small tempo. While returning home at night after the pilgrimage, a truck traveling from the Pune side towards Ahmednagar on the highway near Kamargaon broke the road divider and hit their tempo. At the same time, a container traveling from Ahmednagar towards Pune hit the accident truck. Four people in the Tempo died in the collision.

Rajendra Salve, who died, was working in a company in MIDC. He is survived by his mother, father, wife and one son. Vijay Awachite used to work as a typist in Shirur. He is survived by his parents and wife. Mayur Salve was a Vajantri artist. Dheeraj Mohite hails from Chincholi Morachi and was staying with his uncle Vijay Awachite. All four deceased are close relatives of each other.
