Pune: Four-Month Manhunt Ends, Kondhwa Police Arrests Murder Suspects In Uttar Pradesh

Kondhwa, 26th November 2023: The Kondhwa Police have successfully arrested two accused who had been on the run for four months in connection with a murder case registered under Pune city.

 

The Kondhwa Police have registered charges against the accused individuals, Sarfraz alias Tarjan Habib Khan and Tanveer Habib Khan, under sections 302 (murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These charges stem from an incident where the accused allegedly assaulted their cousin brother, leading to his demise, using a wooden bat. The altercation arose from a dispute over a fabrication business.

 

The victim was admitted to Sassoon Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries after undergoing head surgery. The accused had been evading arrest for the past four months.

 

The Kondhwa Police, led by Assistant Police Inspector Rajesh Usgaonkar, conducted a thorough investigation and traced the accused to Rahi village in Rae Bareli district, Uttar Pradesh.

 

Upon reaching Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the police inquired with the mother-in-law of the accused, who confirmed their native village. The address provided by the accused led the police to Rahi village in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh, under the jurisdiction of Mill Area Police Station.

 

During the search, Tanveer Habib Khan, one of the accused, attempted to evade capture by fleeing to a forested area. However, on November 22, he was successfully apprehended after emerging from the forest. Tanveer was taken into custody and brought to Mill Area Police Station.

 

Upon further inquiry, Tanveer revealed that Sarfraz alias Tarjan Habib Khan was located in Hilgi village of Rae Bareli district. The police proceeded to the said location, successfully locating and arresting Sarfraz in connection with the crime.

 

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Vikrant Deshmukh, ACP Shahurao Salve, Senior Inspector of Police Santosh Sonawane, Police Inspector (Crime) Sandeep Bhosle, and Police Inspector (Crime) Sanjay Mogle, with the support of Police Constable Misal and Police Constable Maharanvar.
